Marriage normally requires two living people to stand together and agree to become spouses. France, however, has an unusual legal exception. Under certain circumstances, a person can legally marry someone who has already died. Known as a posthumous marriage , the practice is allowed under Article 171 of the French Civil Code. It is not an ordinary marriage option, and strict requirements are designed to make sure the deceased person had truly intended to marry.

A Country Spread Across The World: France is widely known for landmarks, culture, and history. However, it also holds a surprising global record. France has the highest number of time zones of any country in the world, with a total of twelve. This number may seem unusual because mainland France in Europe uses only one main time zone. The reason for the larger total comes from the country’s overseas territories located across different parts of the world. These territories are spread across the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Indian Ocean. Because each region sits in a different location on the planet, they follow different time zones.

Understanding The Scale Of Canada’s Lakes: Canada is home to an extraordinary number of lakes. Scientists estimate that the country contains more than two million lakes, covering about nine percent of its total land area. When compared to other nations, Canada stands apart.  By some measurements, it has more lakes than all other countries combined. This statement usually refers to the number of lakes above a certain size, not every small pond or seasonal pool.
