The Seat Belt Reel That Locks During A Sudden Stop
A retractable seat belt moves freely while you reach for the buckle or adjust your position. During a sudden stop, however, the same belt can lock and prevent rapid forward movement. The mechanism responsible is an emergency-locking retractor, usually mounted inside the vehicle’s pillar or seat. It combines comfortable everyday movement with automatic restraint when conditions change sharply.
