Understanding The Difference Between Progress And Improvement: Most people use the words progress and improvement as if they mean the same thing, but they represent very different concepts. Progress simply means movement forward or change over time.  Improvement means getting better or advancing toward a more desirable state. A society can experience progress without actual improvement, just as a person can stay busy without accomplishing anything meaningful.
