Singapore’s Xavier Robot Brought A.I. Patrols To The Streets
A Robot Joins The Street Patrol: In September 2021, people walking through Toa Payoh Central in Singapore encountered an unusual sight. An autonomous ground robot named Xavier was moving through the busy public area. It was part of a three-week government trial designed to support public officers responsible for public health and safety. Xavier began its trial on September 5, 2021. The project involved five Singapore government agencies, including the Home Team Science and Technology Agency, National Environment Agency, Land Transport Authority, Singapore Food Agency, and Housing & Development Board. Xavier itself was developed by HTX in partnership with Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research.
