What Eye Pressure Means: Eye pressure, also called intraocular pressure (IOP), is the amount of pressure created by the fluid inside your eye. This fluid is constantly produced and drained to keep the eye healthy. When the fluid flows in and out normally, eye pressure usually stays within a healthy range. Most people have an eye pressure between 10 and 21 millimeters of mercury (mmHg) , although some people naturally have readings slightly outside this range without developing eye disease.
