Two Found Dead in JetBlue Plane’s Landing Gear After Fort Lauderdale Flight

Two individuals were discovered dead in the landing gear compartment of a JetBlue aircraft after it landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, according to a statement from the airline on Tuesday.

The grim discovery was made Monday evening during a routine maintenance inspection following the plane's arrival.

The aircraft, an Airbus A320-232 operating as flight 1801, had departed from New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and landed in Fort Lauderdale at 11:03 p.m., according to Flightradar24.

JetBlue confirmed that the identities of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding how they accessed the plane remain under investigation.

"This is a heartbreaking situation," the airline stated. "We are working closely with authorities to support their efforts to determine what happened."

Airport officials reported that operations at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport were not disrupted by the incident.
