NYPD Officer Wounded in Queens Shooting: Suspect Killed

An NYPD officer was shot and injured Tuesday evening during an exchange of gunfire with a suspect in Jamaica, Queens, authorities confirmed.

The confrontation unfolded around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Jamaica Avenue and 164th Street. The officer, whose identity has not yet been released, suffered a gunshot wound to the right leg. Officials described the injury as non-life-threatening, and the officer was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.  

The suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, was fatally shot at the scene during the exchange of gunfire. Details about what led to the shooting are still under investigation.  

Law enforcement has not released additional information about the events leading up to the incident, but sources report that a full inquiry is underway.
