Inventors Who Transformed Everyday Life

Kevlar, bullet proof vests material, fire escapes, windshield wipers, and laser printers may seem like completely unrelated items, but they actually have something in common. Can you guess what it is?

A Brief History:

To answer that question, let's take a quick trip through history. All of these inventions were created by women. That's right, each and every one of these important innovations was the brainchild of a brilliant female inventor.

Kevlar:

In 1965, Stephanie Kwolek invented Kevlar, a strong and lightweight material that is five times stronger than steel. Kevlar is used in a variety of applications, but it is most commonly known for its use in bullet proof vests.

Fire Escapes:

The first fire escape was invented by Anna Connelly in 1887. Connelly was a real estate developer who wanted to make her buildings safer for tenants. Her invention allowed people to escape from burning buildings quickly and easily.

Windshield Wipers:

In 1903, Mary Anderson invented the first windshield wiper. Anderson was visiting New York City during a snowstorm when she noticed that streetcar drivers had to keep their windows open to see where they were going. She came up with the idea of a wiper blade that could be operated by the driver from inside the vehicle.

Laser Printers:

Finally, we have the laser printer. In 1977, Adele Goldberg and a team of researchers at Xerox PARC invented the first laser printer. This revolutionary technology made it possible to print high quality documents quickly and efficiently.

These amazing women are just a few examples of the many female inventors who have shaped our world and made it a better place. Your Thoughts Readers...
